so here's my nickel Chicago Architectural tour...
all courtesy of my Comfort Suites 26th floor vantage point.
there is one on the north and south side of this building
about 40 stories above Michigan Ave.
Built in 1928
Chicago landmark
Owned by the Wirtz family.....(yes that Wirtz family)
They are sinking $25 million dollars into renovation.

Another cool gem out my western windows......
(no pun intended)
the 35 East Wacker Dr. building.
Also known as the Jewelers Building.
Unbelievable detail all too many floors up to notice...
Built in 1927
Chicago Landmark.
Initially had the first 23 floors to parking.
Had a car elevator to lift a jewelry salesman's car from the street level
all the way up through the center of the building directly into
an upstairs office for security reasons.
Once considered the tallest building in the World outside of NY.
Top part of dome was originally a restaurant and now is the
showplace of architect Helmut Jahn.
Helmut designed the Thompson Center and the
United Terminal 1 at O'Hare Airport.
Not a Chicago landmark.....but I love what Donald has done to the place.
