Atomic Annie......

Some historic footage of a test using the Atomic Cannon back in the '50's.
U.S. built 20 of these cannons ($800,000 ea.) in the early 50's
that could launch a warhead 7 miles.

They were tractor loaded and could be ready to launch in 15 mins....
and back on the road in another 15 mins.

They were never used other than this one test and were all retired in 1963.

Mz. Molly Flynn was the first one in this week with
BOTH names needed in a TWOFER!

Willard Mitt Romney and his wife Ann.....

--He was named after Willard J. Marriott....
a friend of his fathers and founder of the Marriott Hotel chain....
and Marriot's Great America....hence the roller coaster named Willard's Whizzer.

--Was involved in a car accident in Southern France in the '60's where a passenger of his was killed.....although not his fault. He was in France on a 30-month tour as a Mormon Missionary.

Oh Sweet Child O' Mine......
Chuck Pollard was the first and ONLY one in this week with none other than
Mr.William Bruce Rose, Jr.......or Axl Rose to you and me.

Interesting feller....
but terrible singer although Rolling Stone Magazine thinks differently.
....and so do the packed house who came to see him at the All State Arena this week
even though he showed up 2 hours late for the show.
....and played well after 2 in the morning.....
on a Tuesday night!

Axl came to mind last weekend when I heard his 10 MINUTE long cover of
"Knockin' on Heavens Door"
hey...hey...hey......ouch.
I think his shorts are on too tight.

DAM!

The White Salmon River in Washington state is flowing again as the nearly 100-year-old Condit Dam was disabled with explosives last week.
The reservoir draining took about 2 hours.
Further demolition is scheduled in 2012.
The event is a significant milestone for river
restoration and dam removal nationwide.

Looking for a '51 DeSoto and only have 11 Grand??

So I have driven by Country Classic Cars at least 51 times.....
but had a chance to stop last week in beautiful Staunton, IL.

Acres and acres of old classic cars.....and all for sale.
From old Jeeps to Rolls Royces to Corvairs and Vettes.....
I even saw a '75 Vega Station Wagon along with a '84 Renault Alliance convertible.

Unfortunately his web site is as old as his Desoto.....

I would recommend a stop in case you are ever heading south on I-55.....
Most of the cars are in good shape....they run and are reasonably priced.

Hard to walk away from a '65 Ford Fairlane 2dr V-8 for under 5 grand!
Now I am starting to sound like "Linn Burton for certain"...
Google it kids.

Whatever happened to "Rusty Jones"??
