Happy Cinco de Derbyo....

Wow....
The Derby on Cinco de Mayo...and also the same day as the "Super Moon"!!
I think the Mayans got it all wrong and are off by about 6 months or so.
The world might end today.....
so I'm going for broke!

So Day 2 of Luhville is always the "educational" part of our trip.
Which allows our bodies to filter the alcohol from Day 1 and save us some money from going back to the track for the Oaks Race.

So.....
off we go to the Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville which is about 160+ years old.

Lots of Civil War veterans are buried here....
part of this is a National Cemetery.

We found the Colonel....
ironically you can smell chicken from the KFC that is only a few blocks away.

Really incredible architecture for the day....
lots of mausoleums built into sides off hills which make it look like little "cottages" next-door to each other.

I found this one interesting.....
incredible to think that most of these headstones have stood up to the elements for all of these years.
It is right in the middle of Louisville on 300+ acres.....really a sight to be seen.
Opened in 1848 and inters close to 130,000 people with only space for an additional 10,000.
Sadly.....most of these people have never been to a Derby!!
